Carolina Chocolate Drops is a traditional African-American string band from Durham, North Carolina. The band consists of the multi-instrumentalists Dom Flemons (banjo, guitar, harmonica, kazoo and rhythm instruments), Rhiannon Giddens (banjo and fiddle) and Justin Robinson (fiddle and banjo).
The trio combine blues, folk and gospel from the '20s in a cheerful mix in the mood of the soundtrack of the film 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?'.
In the States, Carolina Chocolate Drops have already performed on stages like Carnegie Hall and the Jefferson Center. Now they are about to play their first shows in Europe.
Carolina Chocolate Drops released their first album 'Dona Got a Ramblin Mind' in 2007, followed up by their second album 'Heritage' in 2008.
