Absynthe Minded came into existence in a small bedroom in Gent, Belgium in 1999. It was there that musician/singer/composer Bert Ostyn recorded the first tracks of his one-man-band. After his third solo demo 'Krankenhaus Hotel' he felt that he should start a band.
The first Absynthe Minded band demo 'Sweet Oblivion' was recorded in 2002, however under the name of Absynthe Minded Quartet. In the meanwhile, the band has become a five-piece and released their third full-length record 'There Is Nothing' in 2007. On this record the sweet pop songs of earlier records made way for more heavy rock songs.
