Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink formed indie pop duo Azure Ray in Athens (U.S.) in 2001 and are now based in Omaha. The two friends met at the age of 15 at the Alabama School of Fine Arts.
Azure Ray is not their first musical project; in the '90's they played in the indie rock band Little Red Rocket, after that they were members of Andy LeMaster's Now It's Overhead and they collaborated with Bright Eyes.
Azure Ray creates a dreamy sound in their pop music, combining alternative country, folk and americana and intimate lyrics. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2001, which was followed by 'Burn and Shiver' a year later and 'Hold on Love' in 2003. After disbanding in 2004, Maria and Orenda went solo.
