Bettye combines soul with country, rock, funk and gospel. She released her first single, 'My Man', which became a national hit song, when she was 16. Shortly after, she toured with several great soul artists like Otis Redding and James Brown.
Bettye LaVette released 9 albums in her long career as a soul singer. In 2007 her album 'The Scene Of The Crime' came out, which was nominated for a Grammy in the category 'Best Contemporary Blues Album'.
