THERE ‘S A ‘BLUE EYED’ SOUL VIRUS COMING UP

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008
At the beginning of this summer we were told about this amazing young soulsinger called Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed. We were very happy to be able to record this amazing talent, who is the perfect example of what is called blue-eyed-soul.

Eli Reed is new in the scene. The two soul-men we’ve got coming up for you in the next days have been around in the game for some time now. I’m talking about Jersey shore scene’s Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes and James Hunter, one of the best soulsingers around in the UK.

To get that ’soul-virus’ starting check these videos:

Both will be webcast live. Friday Southside Johnny is up and on Monday it’s James Hunter’s turn.

OUT NOW: VIDEO ELI ‘PAPERBOY’ REED PARADISO CONCERT

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008
Last week we were privileged to record Eli “Paperboy” Reed’s Paradiso concert, which we now proudly present to you in our archive. This time he was playing at Paradiso’s small stage, but there’s no doubt that he will return within months and sell out the big hall.

I was among the lucky few who got a chance to squeeze themselves into the packed and sweaty hall. The world clearly got out that Eli “Paperboy” Reed is the next big thing in soul music, because the place was packed. Both the band and the audience clearly enjoyed themselves during these 70 minutes of pure soul. Now you should go and enjoy it!

  Eli “Paperboy” Reed Biography
Eli “Paperboy” Reed is a white guy from the US who surprises you with his genuine soul in the style of the great Otis Redding and Sam Cooke. His powerful voice and his own songs and arrangements bring the 60’s back to life.

Reed grew up in Brookline, MA, exposed to a wealth of music. His father was a music critic and gave him full access to his record collection. Eli Reed absorbed as much as he could. In the end it was the gospel, soul, blues and R&B that stole his heart. He taught himself to play the piano, guitar and harmonica and put his skills to test by busking the streets.

Eli Reed got at job in Mississippi where he started playing the clubs. At one point he even ended up on stage with drummer Sam Carr. It was in Mississippi that he got his nickname Paperboy, because of the newsboy style hat he wore at that time.

Back in Boston Eli Reed formed his band The True Loves and released the cover record ‘Sings “Walkin’ and Talkin’ (For My Baby)” and Other Smash Hits’ in 2005. After a successful gig at 2007’s SXSW he signed to Q Division on which he released his second record with only his own material, ‘Roll With You’.
