Brazilian band Bonde Do Role is the first live-act to bring the sound of baile-funk to the northern hemisphere. Do not expect any James Brown or George Clinton kinda funk, but raw electro-rap for the slums of Rio de Janeiro, unpolished Portuguese pop music.
One of the great pioneers in baile-funk is the American dj/producer Diplo, also known for M.I.A.'s hit Bucky Done Gun. Diplo discovered Bonde Do Role who debuted in 2006 with the booming album 'With Lasers'.
