LOVE IS FAIR
NEVER THEREIn 1994 the four friends Bent Van Looy (vocals), Reinhard Vanbergen (guitar), Lieven Moors (guitar) and Niek Meul (bass guitar) founded pop rock band Things To Come, but later changed the name into Das Pop. The guys have known each other since high school in the Belgian city of Gent.
After drummer Tom Kestens joined the band, Das Pop performed as much as possible. In 1998 they appeared in Belgium's most important pop price, Humo's Rock Rally. The jury compared the band to Blur and Pulp and with their impressive show Das Pop won the competition. They spent their price money on recording their single 'A Different Beat' in London.
PIAS signed Das Pop in 2000 and in that same year they went to the studio with producer Phil Vinall (a.o. Placebo and Mark Knopfler) to record their debut album 'I Love', which was released in 2001. One year later they recorded their second album 'The Human Thing' which hit the shops in 2003. After the recordings Tom Kestens and Lieven Moors left the band to focus on their solo projects. Soon Matt Ecdes from New Zealand filled up the position for drummer.
Together with the Soulwax producers duo en Stephen Dewaele Das Pop recorded the third album named 'Fuckland'. The album was meant to appear in 2007, but because of unknown reasons it was postponed to 2008.
