Disco Ensemble is a post-hardcore / punk rock band from Helsinki, Finland. Originally named 'DisCo', the band was founded in 1996 by two high school friends, Jussi Ylikoski and Mikko Hakila. After years of playing in the Finnish underground scene, they were finally noticed by Fullsteam Records in 2001.
Their debut album 'Viper Ethics' (2003) was met with great reviews and with one big bang, Disco Ensemble, had claimed their spot in the punk genre.
The second album 'First Aid Kit' came out in 2005 and was the next big step to success for the Finnish group. Featuring singles 'Black Euro' and 'We Might Fall Apart' the album topped album charts across Europe. All of a sudden they were playing festivals like Roskilde, Rock am Ring and even Glastonbury.
In spring 2008 they released their third album, called 'Magic Recoveries' which saw Disco Ensemble reach the number one position in the Finnish album charts and also get nominated for a MTV Video Music Award. On this third album Disco Ensemble has added synthesizers to their sound without losing touch with authentic punkrock.
