HELL NO I AIN'T HAPPYHigh-School friends Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley founded Drive-By Truckers in 1996. Earlier, they had already been playing together in several bands, among which Adam's House Cat.
After two studio releases, 'Gangstabilly' (1998), 'Pizza Deliverance' (1999) and the live record 'Alabama Ass Whuppin'' (1999), Drive-By Truckers started to work on their masterpiece 'Southern Rock Opera'. This 2001 double CD is based on the history of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
This record was a huge underground success, and the band eventually signed with New West Records. In early 2008 Drive-By Truckers released their 8th record called 'Brigher Than Creation's Dark'.
