Singer Ian McCulloch met guitarist Will Sergeant in 1978. With a drum-machine which they called Echo the duo recorded a few demos. That same year bassist Les Pattinson joined the band and they made their live debut in Liverpool, calling themselves Echo & The Bunnymen.
After getting their first record-deal in 1979 the drum-machine was replaced by a drummer. Several top 10 hits followed untill McCulloch left the band in 1988. In 1997 The Bunnymen reunited in the original formation. 2005s Siberia is the last release of the bands fusion of gloomy post-punk and Doors-inspired psychedelia.
