The P2P-Next project is a pan-European conglomerate of 21 enthusiastic and highly motivated European industrial partners, media content providers and research institutions.

  The project partners, including Fabchannel, the BBC, Pioneer, Markenfilm, Delft University of Technology and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, intend to develop a Europe-wide “next-generation” internet television distribution system, based on p2p technology and social interaction. P2P-Next will address a number of outstanding challenges including technical, legal, regulatory, security, business and commercial issues. The project has an open approach towards sharing results. All software technology will become available as open source, enabling new and exciting business models for the future.

Cultureplayer is an initiative of the Amsterdam Uitburo, Fabchannel and Futureweb and is funded by the ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the City of Amsterdam.

It is Cultureplayer’s mission to assist ten internationally renowed cultural institutions in Amsterdam in strengthening their internet strategy. The institutions are provided with software and Fabchannel’s eight years of experience in streaming video distribution and online rights management. The participating institutions are: De Nederlandse Opera, Concertgebouw / -orkest, Stadsschouwburg, Het Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, De Meervaart, Holland Festival, IDFA, Openbare Bibiliotheek Amsterdam.

MultimediaN is a foundation for public-private collaborations between scientific, industrial and social organisations.

  MultimediaN’s mission is to develop and take in knowledge of multimedia technology for the information-intensive and competitive knowledge society of the future.

As partner of MultimediaN, Fabchannel is currently involved in a project together with the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Center for Mathematics and Computer Science. Within this project the knowledge and experience of the 3 partners is combined into an audiovisual semantic search engine. This state-of-the-art search engine is developed to facilitate companies and institutions access to their ever growing audiovisual archives.
