Iron and Wine is the stage name of Florida native Sam Beam. He made his mark in Miami by releasing lo-fi tapes. These caught the attention of Jonathan Poneman of the label Subpop, on which he released his debut album 'The Creek Drank The Cradle' in 2002.
Iron and Wine plays a subtle mix of americana and folk. In the following years he recorded a record with Calexico and his version of The Postal Service's 'Such Great Hights' ended up on the soundtrack of the movie 'Garden State'.
The third full-length Iron and Wine record 'The Shepherd's Dog' was released in 2007. On this record Beam makes use for the first time of a complete band and many studio arrangements.
