Jimmy Eat World was founded in 1993 by singer/guitarist Jim Adkins and drummer Zach Linden. Joined by guitarist Tom Linton and bassist Mitch Porter (later replaced by Rick Burch) they formed their own rock band.
The four from Mesa, Arizona broke through in 2001 with the hits 'The Middle' and 'Sweetness', taken from the album 'Bleed American' of which they sold 1.3 million copies.
After 2004's 'Futures', their sixth studio album 'Chase This Light' was released in 2007. For the recording of 'Chase This Light' Jimmy Eat World teamed up with top producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins). The band's repertoire varies from alternative to indie rock and pop to punk.
