"The wind rushing through the forest." That's how Joan Wasser a.k.a. Joan As Police Woman describes her debut album 'Real Life'. After playing with Anthony and the Johnsons for years and later with Rufus Wainwright, Joan released her solo-debut in 2006.
As the title might reveal, 'life' was her greatest source of inspiration for the record. The American soul music of Joan As Police Woman is a mix of soul like Al Green and Nina Simone and punk like The Smiths and Siouxsie Sioux.
