After hearing 'Girl From the North Country' by Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, American singer/songwriter Josh Ritter bought his first guitar at the local K-mart. Inspired by the music of Gillian Welch and Leonard Cohen he decided to drop college to pursue a career as musician.
Josh Ritter debuted in 1999 with a self-titled record, but was first noticed after 2001's independent release 'Golden Age of Radio'. Ritter was invited for a tour with the Frames and HBO used a song of the record for the credits of the tv-series 'Six Feet Under'. After 'Hello Starling' (2003) and 'The Animal Years' (2006) 'The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter' was released in 2007.
