Kula shaker is a British psychedelic rock band that was founded in 1993 by singer/guitarist Chrispian Mills. They started out as The Kays but continued as Kula Shaker (like the war hero from the 9th century) after 2 years.
'Tattya', the second single of their debut album 'K', gave Kula Shaker their big breakthrough in 1996. Their biggest hit 'Hush', a Deep Purple cover, also known from the movie 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', followed some time later.
Kula Shaker disbanded in 1999 but regrouped after compiling a 'Best Of' album in 2004. A new studio album, 'Strange Folk', was released in 2007.
