MY BABY LIKES TO BOEGALOEAmsterdam based band Lefties Soul Connection gives a new meaning to raw funk and soul music. Influenced by funk acts like The Meters and JB's, but also by hiphop acts like Jurassic 5, The Roots and Beastie Boys, the four bring funk and soul with a hiphop sound and structure.
Organ player Alviz used to DJ at the Amsterdam Bitterzoet club, where he played raw funk music. Eventually he felt the urge to play this kind of music live, with a band. That's why he formed Lefties Soul Connection in 2001, together with guitarist Onno. Bass player Bram and drummer Vogel completed the band. Ever since then they top the funk scene in Holland.
In 2005 Lefties Soul Connection released their cover of 'Organ Donor' (original by DJ Shadow) on 7 inch. Together with previous recordings, this single was released on their debut album 'Hutspot' in 2006. In 2007 their second album 'Skimming the Skum' followed.
