BIOGRAPHY
Marcus Miller (Brooklyn, 1959) is best known as bass-player, but he had also mastered the piano, clarinet and saxophone before he could even drive. As of aged 15, Miller could be found in various New York jazz clubs.
After he had started writing and playing with flutist Bobbi Humphrey and key-player Lonnie Liston Smith at the end of the 70's, Miller grew out to be the most popular session musician of that time. He worked with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and Grover Washington, jr.
In 1981 Marcus Miller joined the band of his long-time hero Miles Davis. Miller wrote and produced three albums for Davis, of which 'Tutu' is best known. Since 1993 Miller has been focusing on his solo career and combines funk, soul, jazz and blues with his unique style of playing the bass.
