Richmond Fontaine is the band of singer, guitarist and songwriter Willy Vlautin. He grew up in Reno, NV. His brother in L.A. sent him tapes of bands like The Blasters, Rank and File and The Long Riders. Influenced by this blend of punk and country, Vlautin started his first band at the age of 16.
In 1996 he founded Richmond Fontaine. The next year their first record 'Safety' was released. Six records followed, of which 'Thirteen Cities' (2007) is the latest. With 'Thirteen Cities' Vlautin and his band deliver us another 14 beautiful alt.country songs.
