Spankrock consists of MC Naeem Juwan (a.k.a. Spank Rock) and producer XXXchange (Alex Epton). Both originate from Baltimore, but never met until they had been making music elsewhere.
After middle-school Juwan decided to pursue a career in rap. XXXchange attended several conservatory, released a record as drummer of Zero Zero and works with the infamous DFA team.
Shortly after a mutual friend had introduced the two to each other they started making music together. The result was a fusion of the best underground hiphop and dirty rap. Spank Rock's debut 'YoYoYoYoYo' was released in 2006.
