BIOGRAPHY

American indie rock band spoon was founded in 1994. The band from Austin, Texas consists of Britt Daniel (vocals, guitar), Jim Eno (drums), Rob Pope (bass) and Eric Harvey (keyboards, guitar). Spoon's band name derives from a song by German avant-garde band Can. Spoon's mix of indie rock and punk is often compared to that of Sonic Youth and The Pixies.

After releasing their debut album 'Telephono', Spoon went on tour with Pavement, Guided by Voices, Silkworm, and Archers of Loaf.

When record company Matador droped Spoon, American label Elektra signed them to their catalogue. In 1998 they released 'Series of Sneaks', which was followed by 'Girls Can Tell' (2001). 2002's Kill the Moonlight included the single 'The Way We Get By' which appeared on television series The O.C.

Spoon's fifth record 'Gimme Fiction' came out and sold over 160.000 copies in 2005. 2008 release 'Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga' debuted at the number 10 position on the Billboard 200.
