American folky singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega (11 July 1959) graduated from the prestigious New York High School of Performing Arts (well-known from the film and musical Fame) and later on studied English literature. In the meanwhile she played at various small clubs in Greenwich Village, where she was discovered and signed.
Suzanne Vega debuted with 1985's album 'Suzanne Vega'. 'Solitude Standing', including the hit 'Luka', followed two years later. A remix of the song 'Tom's Diner' became a worldwide hit in 1990.
After 22 years Suzanne Vega left her record label A&M Records in 2006 to sign with Blue Note, on which she released her seventh record 'Beauty & Crime'.
