GREAT BALLS OF FIRE
JOSEPHINE
LETTER FROM ALEX
LOUIS,LOUISTeitur, full name Teitur Lassen, is a singer/songwriter form the Faroe Islands born in 1977. He's a gifted songwriter who was voted best male artist at the 2007 Danish Music Awards (the Danish equivalent of the Grammies).
Teitur's music is known for dreamy lyrics and vocals sounds as well as a minimal and natural sound. This winning combination takes the listener far away, imagining beautiful Nordic landscapes that inspired the music. His music is referred to as music for the heart and soul.
The world first got to know Teitur after the release of his debut album 'Poetry & Aeroplanes' in 2003. Ever since his debut he's been touring non-stop, opening for the likes of Rufus Wainwright, Aimee Mann and John Mayer. In an interview with Esquire Magazine Mayer said "(Poetry and Aeroplanes) may be one the best albums to come along in the last five years".
His second record 'Stay Under the Stairs' was released in 2006, which was received with critical acclaim, both in Europe as well as in the US. 'Stay Under the Stairs' went gold in Denmark and won him the Danish Music Award.
After 'Kato Hornio' (2007), an album sung in his native Faroese language, Teitur released his third English album, 'The Singer', in 2008. Teitur left for the Swedish Island Gotland to record this record isolated from the outside world by the wonderful winter landscapes. All songs are written over a time-span of seven years and are a collection of Teitur's life events and experiences.
