In 1985 London's own Jan Kincaid, Simon Bartholomew en Andrew Levy started The Brand New Heavies. Inspired by artist like James Brown and the Meters, The Brand New Heavies made powerful soul and funk popular again for a big audience. They produced many hits amongst them the most well known is 'Never Stop'.
After being the bands lead singer from 92 to 94 the eccentric NDea Davenpoort returned to The Heavies in 2006. That same year the record 'Get Used To It' was released. Since the 80ties The Brand New Heavies have been known for their powerful soul, jazz, hip-hop and most of all funk.
