New Yorkers Sam Endicott (singer, guitar) John Conway (keyboards), Anthony Burulcich (drums), Michael Zakarin (guitar) and Mike Hindert (bass) started The Bravery back in 2003. Endicott and Conway were classmates at Vassar College, where they played in several bands together. In 2000 the guys decided to move to New York, where they met the rest of the band.
The Bravery's indie rock music combined with electronica and post-punk influences left a great impression in 'The Big Apple'. Sam's dark-edged voice combined with uplifting keyboards and new wave guitars form an infectious and energising mix and quickly made them in to one of New York's hippest bands.
After many successful gigs the five-piece released 'The Unconditional EP' in 2005, which was praised by the critics. The Village Voice called The Bravery ''New York's Official Next Big Thing'' and MTV and Rollingstone hailed them as ''Artist to Watch''.
In 2005 The Bravery released their self-titled debut album, including succesfull singles 'An Honest Mistake' and 'Unconditional'. Soon after, they went to the studio with producer Brendan O'Brien (o.a. Rage Against The Machine) to record the follow up album 'The Sun and the Moon', which was released in 2007.
