Gifted singer/songwriter and frontman of indie band The Frames, Glen Hansard, left school at the age of 13 and started busking. He was 17 when he borrowed some money and recorded a demo, which he handed out to friends and family. This demo found its way to Island Records, which signed him.
Hansard started The Frames in 1990. With the release of the album 'For The Birds' in 2000 The Frames grew out the be one of Ireland's top bands. From that moment on their popularity outside of Ireland started growing. The successful album 'Burn The Maps' followed in 2005 and 'The Cost' in 2006.
