BIOGRAPHY
With the hit-single '22 Grand Job', The Rakes burst on the UK music scene in 2004. This London based quartet call themselves The Rakes, simply because of the fact that they're 'skinny as rakes'.
Anything that sounds good will be nicked and used in their music, from Bowie and The Cure, LCD Soundsystem and Dizzy Rascal to church music and James Bond tunes. The result is infectious and danceable indie/punk.
Their 2005 debut album 'Capture/Release' was followed up by 'The New Messages' in 2007. 'The New Messages' was recorded with the help of producers Jim Abiss (Arctic Monkey's, Editors, Kasabian) and Brendan Lynch (Primal Scream).
