These Brooklyn based ska veterans started out in 1991. After hearing the raw and direct sound of their first full-length album 'Better Late Than Never' the New York Times declared their sound to be 'the sound of New York City'.
The Slackers mix ska, rocksteady, reggae, soul, swing, garage rock and jazz into their own raw sound. Their eighth album 'Peculiar' was released in 2006. On this record they show their discord with the current American politics.
