BIOGRAPHY

Tricky is the pseudonym of Adrian Thaws. The British trip hop artist was born in 1968 in Bristol, where he lived a rough youth. His father left the family when he wasn't even born and his mother committed suicide when he was only four years old. Tricky spent the rest of his youth living with his grandmother who raised him.

Rap group The Wild Bunch was the start of Tricky's career. The Bristol band later evolved into the more famous Massive Attack in the early '90s. Tricky took care of the rap vocals on the first two albums of Massive Attack, but he never felt he really was a part of the group and didn't really enjoy his time with the band.

Tricky left Massive Attack in 1995 to release his solo debut 'Maxinguaye' (named after his mother). This record was a huge success and reached the number 3 position of the British charts. In the rest of his solo career he released eight more albums, among which 'Knowle West Boy' in 2008.
